History

clubmum has been operating since May 2005 when it launched at The Dome in Tufnell Pk, it was a large and lively event with a separate creche and lots of dancing helped by a looped programme of independent dance films projected over the alternative therapy zone.

The following event we held was a small clubmum at The Progress Bar Tufnell Park in July, where we introduced the club shop and had live music on stage with Dave Cooper guitarist plus a live guest DJ Princess Leah. Each event was unique and gave us valuable insight into the development of the project.

The second clubmum Summer 2006 saw us festival hopping and understaning how to run the event for several days consecutively. This was great as we got to know the mums dads and children who attended regularly. Throughout our festival weekends we programmed a rolling schedule of workshops- playdough with sculptor Ben Tranchell, dance with Dr Sharon Smith, story telling with actress Antonia Davies, baby yoga with yoga teacher and dula Paula Glallardo and art with VJ and painter Emma Plunkett. We also had our special guest DJ Copious spinning some tasty morsells at The Big Chill 07.

We have been to Brent Respect, the Brick Lane Mela, The Barbican Art Centre, The Everyman Cinema, The Dome, The Progress Bar and of course The Big Chill.

Thanks again to everyone who has been involved and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Comments from people who came:

My Wife & I cannot thank you enough for your presence at The Big Chill this weekend. This was the first time that we have attended the event with our children (aged 18 months and 3), and you saved the day! Whilst we found the whole experience pretty exhausting, our boys loved it because of Clubmum. Your staff worked tirelessly and could not do enough for either the children or the attendant parents. Please add us to any mailing lists so that we can plan any further festivals around you. Stuart Bowdler
